How does the study of different parts of a flower help in identifying wind as its pollinating agent.

There are certain characters which distinguish these flowers from others. These special characters help in the pollination of flowers by the agency of wind. The characters are:-

i) Flowers are small and inconspicuous.

ii) Flowers are colourless, odourless and nectarless.

iii) They have well exposed stamens so that pollens are easily dispersed by wind currents.

iv)Large often feathery stigma to easily trap airborne pollen grains.

v) Pollen grains are light, small and winged or dusty

vi) Pollen grains are dry, smooth, non-stick and unwettable.

vii) Pollen grains are produced in very large number.
