What is the difference between menstrual cycle and oestrous cycle?

Menstrual cycle Oestrous cycle
It occurs in monkeys, apes and human beings. It occurs in cows, dogs
This cycle consists of 3 phases- menstrual, proliferative and secretory. It consists of short period of oestrous or heat which is 12 to 24 hours in cow followed by passive period.
Blood flows in the last few days of the cycle. The broken endometrium is passed out during menstruation Blood does not flow in this cycle. The broken endometrium is reabsorbed.
Female does not permit copulation during menstrual phase of the cycle. Female permits copulation only during oestrous period.
