Reproduction in Organisms (Class XII)

Category: Biology 12th Date: Saturday, October 28, 2017

Offsprings derived by asexual reproduction are called clones. Why?

In asexual reproduction there is no formation or fusion of gametes. A single parent is capable of producing offsprings.  As a result, the offpsrings produced are identical to each other and also the exact copies of their parents. The term clone is used to describe such morphologically and genetically similar individuals.
