7 Practical steps to software project development - Step 1

Category: Technology World Date: Tuesday, January 20, 2015

Step 1 – Requirement gathering

Before you can start with the project development you should understand the requirements of the project properly. If possible you should document the requirements for future reference. Do not think on the fly and work. You should always document the project requirements before you can start the project development.

Also remember that many times it’s not possible to gather all the requirements of the project in a single iteration. If this is the case then you should divide the software project into modules and understand the requirements of each module properly before starting work on that module. As a rule of thumb, you should make sure that you understand more than 70% of the requirements of the project or module you are working on. Rest 30% you can figure out during development.
